Make SoundPrivacy policy
Make Sound is a music-making app for Android. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it. The short version: Make Sound doesn't collect any personal data, and nothing leaves your phone unless you send it.
What the app collects
Nothing. Make Sound has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. It doesn't request internet access, so it can't send anything anywhere.
Your music and recordings
Everything you make (projects, recordings, samples, presets and exports) is saved on your own device, inside the app's storage. It stays there unless you choose to share or export it. When you use Share or Export, the file goes only to the app or place you pick in Android's share sheet.
Permissions and why they're used
Microphone: only when you record (in the Sampler or the Foley recorder) or turn on listening in the Analyzer. Recordings are stored on your device and are never uploaded; the Analyzer's listening isn't stored at all.
Nearby devices / Bluetooth (and location, on Android 11 and older, where Android requires it to scan): only when you look for a Bluetooth MIDI keyboard in Settings. Make Sound doesn't use or store your location.
Device backups
If you've turned on Android's own backup for your Google account, Android may include the app's settings and saved presets in that backup. Google handles this under your account's backup settings, and Make Sound never receives it. Your projects aren't part of it.
Children
Make Sound isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect any information from anyone.
This website
This site has no cookies, analytics or trackers. It's hosted on GitHub Pages, which may log visitors' IP addresses for security, as described in GitHub's privacy statement.
Changes
If this policy ever changes (for example, if a future feature needs something new), the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date before that feature ships.
